Laurel Records is a fictitious music label designed by and for people with a love for old-school rave music. From DnB to UK Garage to Jungle to Riddim, Laurel is an one-stop-shop for all flavors of early electronic dance music.
The idea was to cater to those that treated electronic music as an elevated art form, much like sculptures crafted by the old masters. Borrowing from that imagery led to the idea of a crown given to victors and champions in their fields: a laurel wreath. From this the label’s name was born.
Now to make a mark to match this noble lineage.
Using a polar grid, the laurel was crafted with precision much in the same way a sculpture would be approached. Using a grid in this fashion took the idea of the wreath but updated it to match the technical aesthetic often seen within rave culture. Thus marrying the idea of classic fine art and modern computer music.
Pulling from royal purples and tranquil teals the palette for Laurel Records stands out in the crowd as bold and energetic. Combining these with a neutral charcoal gray and applying a gradient map to classical art along with abstract acidic backgrounds starts to form the visual identity for this music label.
What better to seal the deal than a sea of merch and branded accessories. Here we see a glimpse at what could be within Laurel Record’s line of merch among a crowd of raving festival-goers.
